French Strawberry Pie

INGREDIENTS:
Pillsbury Pie Crust
2 Cups Half & Half
2/3 Cup Sugar
1/3 Cup Flour
1/3 Teaspoon Salt
1/3 Stick Butter
3 Egg Yolks
1 Teaspoon Vanilla
1/2 Cup Sugar
16 Ounces Frozen Strawberries
1 Tablespoon Cornstarch
DIRECTIONS:
Prepare pie crust according to directions for a custard pie.
When pie crust is cool, heat half and half in double boiler. Mix 2/3 cup sugar with the flour and salt, add to hot half and half and mix well. Add melted butter. When this thickens, add egg yolks, cooking until thick, 185 to 190 degrees F. When you take it off the heat, add vanilla. Pour in pie shell and allow to set.
When the custard layer is set, combine strawberries and 1/2 cup sugar in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Thicken mixture with cornstarch mixed with cold water. Pour on top of custard layer.
Refrigerate until set.
