Cherry Cobbler Cake


INGREDIENTS:

1 Dark Chocolate Fudge Cake Mix
3 Large Eggs
1/3 Cup Vegetable Oil
1 1/4 Cups Water
1 Cup Sugar
2 Tablespoons Cornstarch
2 16 Ounce Cans Pitted Dark Sweet Cherries
2 Tablespoons Butter
1 Teaspoon Red Food Coloring
3/4 Teaspoon Almond Extract

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan.

Place dry cake mix, eggs, oil and water in a large mixer bowl. Mix as directed on the package. Turn into pan and spread evenly.

Combine sugar and cornstarch in a bowl. Add cherries undrained, melted butter, food coloring and almond extract; mix well with a spoon. Spoon evenly and carefully over the batter in the pan.

Bake at 350 degrees for 55 to 60 minutes until center of cake is set. Serve warm or at room temperature with ice cream or sweetened whipped cream.
