Apple Butter

INGREDIENTS:

12 Apples, Peeled, Cored, And Sliced
1 Quart Apple Cider
1-1/2 Cups Sugar
3/4 Teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
1/4 Teaspoon Ground Cloves

DIRECTIONS:

Combine apple slices and cider in crockpot and cook on low until apples begin to soften into pulp. Stir in sugar and spices and continue to cook on low stirring occasionally until apple butter has reached the desired consistency.

NOTE: This recipe takes a long, long time in the crockpot. If you have to be away for several hours once it has started to get thick, just turn the pot off before you leave and turn it back on again when you return. Some years it takes me several days to finish it up because of the stops and starts, but it always turns out good!
