Streusel Kuchen


INGREDIENTS:

1/4 Cup Water
1 Package Yeast
1 Tablespoon Sugar
3/8 Cup Milk
1/4 Cup Sugar
3/4 Teaspoon Salt
1 Egg
2 Capsules Cardamon
1/3 Cup Butter
Lemon Rind
Raisins
2-1/4 Cups Flour

DIRECTIONS:

Heat 1/4 C. water to 115 degrees. Put into bowl with 1 pkg. yeast and 1 T. sugar. Let stand 10 minutes. Scald 3/8 C. milk. Stir in 1/4 C. sugar and 3/4 t. salt. Cool until warm. beat 1 to 2 eggs. Melt 1/4 C. butter. Add milk mixture to yeast mixture. Add eggs and 1/2 of flour. Beat until smooth. Add melted butter, cardamon, and the rest of the flour. Let rest 10 minutes. Knead about 8 minutes. Punch down dough. Place in greased pan, pressing to make it even. Cut 1 C. flour and 1/2 C. sugar into 1/2 C. cold butter. Mix until crumbly. Crumble over cake. Raise uncovered until cake reaches top of pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 25 minutes.
