Spaetzle (Drop Noodles)

INGREDIENTS:

2 Quarts Water
2 Teaspoons Salt
2-1/3 Cups Flour, Sifted
1 Teaspoon Salt
1 Egg, Slightly Beaten
1 Cup Water
1/4 Cup Butter

DIRECTIONS:

Bring 2 quarts water and 2 teaspoons salt to boiling. Meanwhile, sift together and set aside 2-1/3 cups flour and 1 teaspoon salt. Combine egg and 1 cup water and mix together. Gradually add flour mixture to egg mixture. (Batter should be very thick and break from a spoon instead of pouring in a continuous stream.) Using spaetzle machine, drop noodles into boiling water. After noodles rise to the surface, boil gently 5-8 minutes or until tender. Drain. Toss noodles lightly with margarine.
