Chicken Fried Steak

6 Servings

INGREDIENTS:

1.47 Pounds Beef Round Cube Steak
Seasoned Salt
Black Pepper
Garlic Powder
2 Tablespoons Flour
2 Tablespoons Canola Oil
1 Onion
2 Tablespoons Flour
2 Cups Water

DIRECTIONS:

Season the steak with the seasoned salt, black pepper and garlic powder. Rub seasonings into meat.

Using 2 tablespoons of flour, sprinkle flour on both sides of the steaks, pat and then shake off excess.

In a large skillet heat 2 tablespoons oil. When hot, place the steaks in the skillet and brown, about 3-4 minutes each side.

Remove steaks from skillet. Add 2 tablespoons of flour and cook to brown. When the flour is a nice toasty brown, begin adding the water, stirring constantly to prevent lumps. Continue adding the water until you have a smooth and thin gravy. It will thicken as the steak simmers.

Taste and adjust the seasonings adding a pinch more salt if necessary.

Add the steaks and simmer about 3 minutes uncovered.

Add the sliced onions, again a little salt and pepper.

Cover and simmer on low heat for about 30 minutes. When done the onions are tender and a little browned.
